Emerging Carpet Trends for 2016

Wool or Nylon, texture and colour?  We share insight into the new season’s carpet trends for your home.

Selecting colour schemes for a new home or renovation can be an overwhelming experience.  There are also people who love the process embracing it wholeheartedly.  Either way, the best place to start is to work from the floor up.  By selecting your tiles, carpet colour or even timber makes it easier to continue your colour selection for walls and joinery.

Let’s take a look at what’s trending in carpet for 2016

In years gone by, nylon was thought to be the most hard wearing material for carpets with wool preferable but prone to ball and have peeling fibres.  However, today with the advancements in technologies, both types of carpets have improved substantially resulting in a great investment to any house.

Wool Carpet

  1. We are currently seeing a strong preference to textured loops with a heathered look
  2. Trending in colour is.. lots of it – bring on the brights!

Nylon Carpet

  1. Stippled twists give depth and a luxe feel to your space
  2. Greys continue to be a desired selection for many homes and will continue into 2016 – from steel greys to charcoals.  Greys with a neutral stipple/fleck are popular

In summary, it is all about texture, adding movement and life to your floor.  Colour trends are focused towards grey, yet for those with a calling to be bold, bright colours are lighting up our floors in 2016.
